Sophomore sprinter
Anthony Harbor (Bellflower HS)
came in third place in the 110-meter high
hurdles with a time of 14.85 on Friday at the
first day of events at the Cerritos Relays,
which are being held at Cerritos College. The
second day of events starts with high school
events getting underway at 11:00 a.m. with the
first community college event starting at 1:00
p.m. The highlight of the day will be the track
and field dedication ceremony, which will take
place at 4:30 p.m.
Harbor advanced to the finals on Saturday,
as the top nine times moved on to the finals.
Freshman distance runner
Casey
McCombs (Lakewood HS) ran
well in the 3000 meter steeplechase, as he
placed second in a time of 10:27.62, while the
team was represented in the javelin by freshmen
Cody
Lewis (Lakewood HS), who
placed ninth with a distance of 150' 9", and
Devin
Farrow (Valley Christian HS)
with a 10th place showing at 147' 11".
In the sprints, sophomore
Genoa
Dill (Compton HS) advanced
to the finals, as he placed eighth in the 200
meters (21.87), but did not qualify in the 100
meters with a 10th place showing
at 10.94, Sophomore thrower
Benjamin Smith (Cypress HS)
came in sixth place in the finals of the shot
put with a throw of 44' 1/4".
