The
Cerritos College men's track and field
team recorded three first place finishes
and seven second place finishes to help
the team come in second place at the
Fresno Invitational on Saturday. The
Falcons amassed 103 team points and
trailed only the host Rams, who won the
meet with 149 team points. Aside from
Cerritos, only Los Angeles Southwest
College brought a team from Southern
California to the meet. The team will
now take part in the prestigious Mt. San
Antonio Relays on Saturday.
Leading the way for
the Falcons was sophomore hurdler
Anthony Harbor (Bellflower
HS), who continues to show why he
is one of the best in the state. In the
400-meter intermediate hurdles, Harbor
beat all contenders with a time of
55.08, while his time of 15.14 in the
110-meter high hurdles placed him in
second. As for freshman distance runner
Daniel Clifford-Sorenson (Lakewood
HS), he won the 5000 meters in a
time of 15:49.31, which as almost a full
minute over second place finisher,
freshman
Jonathan Dillard (Lakewood
HS), who finished in 16:40.18.
Clifford-Sorenson also came in fourth
place in the 1500 meters, with a time of
4:07.91. Dillard also came in second
place in the 3000-meter steeplechase in
a time of 10:15.99, while both
1600-meter relay teams finished in first
and second place.
Sophomore sprinter
Genoa Dill (Compton HS)
placed second in the 200 meters (22.01),
while his time of 10.97 was good for
fourth place in the 100 meters.
Sophomore
Dennis Drisdom (Dominguez
HS) came in second place in the 800
meters (1:57.00), while freshman
Miguel Ortega (John
Glenn HS) finished in fourth place
in 1:59.12.
There were several
solid field event performances, led by
freshman
Cody Lewis (Lakewood HS),
who came in second place in the javelin
(158' 11) and placed fourth in the pole
vault at 13' 0". In the long jump,
freshman
Brandon Dickson (Long
Beach Millikan HS) came in fourth
(21' 3 3/4"), while his time of 22.69
placed him seventh in the 200 meters,
while freshman thrower
Devin Farrow (Valley
Christian HS) placed fourth in the
shot put at 42' 10".
