Cerritos Track & Field (2007):
Qualified for the state championships in three
events… Came in sixth in the 3000-meter
steeplechase, ninth in the 10,000 meters and 11th
in the 5,000 meters… Set a new school record in
the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:15.38), and the
10,000 meters (31:20.84)… His time of 15:08.40
in the 5000 meters is the second fastest in
school history… Also ran the 1500 meters
(4:03.10) and 3000 meters (8:47.34)…..
Cerritos Cross Country (2007):
Was the lone Falcon to qualify for the state
championships… Turned in a time of 21:59 over
the four-mile course to finish in 73rd
place overall… Was a 53rd place
finisher at the Southern California
Championships with a time of 22:34, while he
came in 10th place at the South Coast
Conference Championships in 22:34… Earned All-SC
honors for his finish… Best finish of the season
was fifth place at the SoCal Preview Meet…..
Cerritos Cross Country (2006):
Was an All-American selection after finishing in
fourth place at the state championships… Posted
a time of 20:31 over the four-mile course, which
was the highest finish by a Cerritos runner in
school history… Finished in seventh place at the
Southern California Championships in a time of
22:29 after a sixth place finish in the South
Coast Conference Championships… Registered a
time of 22:00 in the conference finals… Placed
first in three straight meets (Fresno
Invitational, Riverside Invitational and Crystal
Springs Invitational)…
Lakewood HS:
Recorded personal best times in the 1500
(48.05), 1600 (4:28) 3200 (9:43) on the track
team… Competed in the Junior Olympics in the
1500 meters, 5000 meters and steeplechase… Did
not compete in cross country his senior year,
but was still ranked 14th in the
state… Was a three-time Press Telegram
Dream Team selection and earned All-Moore League
recognition three times… Was his team’s Most
Valuable Player as a freshman and sophomore…
Earned the Century Club Award and McDonald’s
Award as a sophomore… Posted a personal best
time of 14:57..…
Personal:
Most memorable moment was when he turned in
personal best times in the steeplechase, 5K and
four-mile races… Would like to transfer to a
school outside of California and is training for
the 2012 Olympics… Enjoys competing in paintball
in his spare time… Has three siblings – Amanda,
Jamie and Jackie… Nicknamed “Danny Boy” and
“Never Tired”… Is the son of James Clifford and
Tonya Sorenson… Born on April 17, 1988….. |
