The Cerritos College men’s track team showed their depth in all events in their three-way non-conference meet on Thursday. The Falcons posted wins over Orange Coast College (92-57) and Saddleback College (92-53) to put their record at 2-0 on the year. The team will now host the Cerritos Invitational next Friday and Saturday.

    In the meet, the team won 10 of the events, including both relay races. Freshman sprinter Marlon Austin (Bellflower HS) was a multiple winner, as he captured the 100 meters (11.07) and 200 meters (22.34) while running on both relay teams. In the 400-meter relay, the quartet of sophomore Kenyon Stewart (Cabrillo HS), Austin, freshman Kristen Joseph (Canyon Springs, NV HS) and freshman Bruce McCall (Norwalk HS) posted a time of 43.68 to win the race. The 1600-meter relay team of Austin, Stewart, sophomore Jonathan Dillard (Lakewood HS) and McCall finished in a time of 3:30.71, which was five seconds faster than the second place team.

    In the field events, sophomore Cody Lewis (Lakewood HS) won the javelin (166’ 7”), while he placed second in the high jump (6’ 2”) and pole vault (13’), as well as in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.06). Freshman Louis Rodriguez (La Puente HS) also posted two second places finishes in the discus (125’ 2”) and hammer (119’ 7½”), with Joseph and competing in field events and won the long jump (21’ 11”) and came in third place in the triple jump (42’ 10”).
