The Cerritos College
men's track team competed in one of the largest meets in
the state over the weekend, as they took part in the Ben
Brown Invitational, which was held at Mt. San Antonio
College. Below is a complete list of how the Falcons did
at the invitational, which split the events into
invitational and open divisions.
The team will now compete in the Occidental Distance race on
Friday at 3:00 p.m., while other members of the team
will travel to Bakersfield for the Bakersfield Relays,
which will be held on Friday and Saturday.
Freshman Kristen
Joseph (Canyon Springs, NV HS) won the
long jump invitational, with a leap of 23' 6 3/4", while
in the open competition, freshmen
Vince Tovar
(El Rancho HS) and
DaJuan Henry
(Valley Christian HS) placed third and fourth,
respectively. In another field event, sophomore
Cody Lewis
(Lakewood HS) placed ninth in the invitational
javelin with a throw of 161' 10", while Joseph placed
eighth in the triple jump at 44' 2 1/2".
In the running events, freshman
Marlon Austin
(Bellflower HS) came in ninth place in the 100
meter invitational at 10.91, while his time of 22.03 was
good for 12th place in the 200 meter invitational event.
