The Cerritos College
men's track and field team has qualified seven
individuals for the Southern California Championships,
which will take place next Saturday at Bakersfield
College. Those that advance from the finals will compete
in the state championships, which will be held at Falcon
Stadium on May 16-17.
Those that qualified are: sophomore distance runner
Daniel Clifford-Sorenson (Lakewood HS),
who broke his own record in the 3000-meter steeplechase
with a time of 9:19.08 and will be joined by sophomore
Casey McCombs
(Long Beach Wilson HS). Joining them in the
running events will be freshman Marlon Austin
(Bellflower HS) in the 400 meters. Those that advanced
in the field events include sophomore
Cody
Lewis (Lakewood HS) in the javelin,
freshman
Nicholas
Armstrong (Long Beach Poly HS) in the
high jump, freshman
Bruce McCall
(Norwalk HS) in the triple jump and freshman
Kristen Joseph
(Canyon Springs, NV HS) in the long jump.
