The Cerritos College
men's track and field team will be sending five athletes
to the state championships, which will take place at
Falcon Stadium next Friday and Saturday. As a team, the
Falcons tied for eighth place in the Southern California
Championships on Saturday, as they compiled 36 team
points at Bakersfield College. Riverside Community
College won the Southern California Championship with
141.33 team points, while three other South Coast
Conference teams finished ahead of Cerritos in the team
scoring.
Of the five that have qualified, three are jumpers, while
sophomore distance runner
Daniel Clifford-Sorenson (Lakewood HS),
who won the 3000-meter steeplechase and broke his own
record in SoCal Prelims and sophomore
Cody
Lewis (Lakewood HS), a third place
finisher in the decathlon, will also compete. The three
jumpers consist of freshman
Nicholas
Armstrong (Long Beach Poly HS), who
placed third in the high jump, freshman
Kristen Joseph
(Canyon Springs, NV HS), a third place finisher
in the long jump and freshman
Bruce McCall
(Norwalk HS), who came in fourth place in the
triple jump.
