Cerritos Track & Field (2008): Placed 14^th in the 10,000 meters at the Southern California Championships… Came in sixth place in the 10,000 meters and ninth place in the 5000 meters at the South Coast Conference Championships… Posted a personal best time in the 5000 meters (15:48.17) and 10,000 meters (33:31.00)… Also ran the 3,000 meters (9:14.02)…..

Cerritos Cross Country (2008): Was the first Falcon to finish the State Championships, as he came in 42^nd place with a  time of 21:14, while he came in 42^nd place at the Southern California Championships with a time of 21:04, his best time of the season… Helped the team finish in third place at the South Coast Conference Championships with an 11^th place finish with a clocking of 21:47… Placed 26^th at the Santa Barbara Invitational with a time of 23:12 and he came in 21^st place in a time of 21:16 at the Bakersfield Invitational… His time of 21:19 put him in 28^th place at the Orange Coast Classic and he placed 25^th at the Fresno Invitational in 21:55…..

Cerritos Cross Country (2007): Placed 31^st in the South Coast Conference Championships with a time of 24:10… Matched that time at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational, while he turned in a season-best time of 22:42 at the Fresno Invitational… Attended UC Riverside out of high school, but did not participate in sports…..

Valencia HS: Spent three seasons on the cross country and two on the track and field teams… Helped lead the cross country team to the CIF Championship his senior year, while he was named All-Empire League as a junior and senior…..

Personal: Is working on a minor in psychology… Likes to eat, run and play soccer in his spare time… Nicknamed “Baby Geo”… Has one brother – Luis (24)… Is the son of Tomas and Esperanza Popoca… Born in Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico on August 29, 1987…..
