With the South
Coast Conference Preliminaries just two weeks
away, the Cerritos College men's track and field
team continues to tune up for the most important
meets of the season. They sent a partial squad
to the Mt. San Antonio Relays over the weekend
and had very promising results. The Falcons will
now compete in the Long Beach Relays at Cerritos
this Friday and Saturday in their final meet
before the conference prelims.
Leading the
way for the Falcons were a pair of second place
finishers, with sophomore
Kristen Joseph (Canyon Spring
HS, NV) turning in a second place in the
long jump, while freshman teammate
Calvin Clausell (Cerritos HS)
finished in 10th place. In the 800 meters,
freshman
Torion
Bailey (Mayfair HS) posted
a time of 1:53.44, good for second place. In the
sprints, freshman
William English (Montebello HS)
placed fifth in the 100 meters at 10.82, while
his time of 22.00 was good for eighth in the 200
meters.
In the throws,
sophomore
Nicholas Armstrong (Long Beach
Poly HS) placed fourth in the javelin, with
sophomore
David
Thomas (Cerritos HS) in
sixth place. Freshman
Jeramey Cutler (Lakewood HS)
finished fifth in the discus.
