Freshman sprinter Kelsey Caesar (Klein Forest, TX HS) captured both the 200 meters and 400 meters as the Cerritos College men's track and field team turned in a good all-around showing at the Cerritos Invitational over the weekend. In addition to the two wins by Caesar, sophomore Qualaun Reed (Cabrillo HS) won the 3000-meter steeplechase event. The Falcons will now travel to the USC Invitational, which will start at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.

Caesar posted a time of 21.58 in the 200 meters, while his time of 47.56 beat everyone in the 400 meters. Joining Caear in the 200 meters were freshman William English (Montebello HS) and sophomore Kristen Joseph (Canyon Springs, NV HS), who finished fifth and sixth, respectively. As for Reed, his time of 9:52.25 was good enough to win the race. Over the weekend, there was one school record broken, as freshman thrower Vincent Huitt (Downey HS) set a new record in the weight throw with a distance of 42' 3".

Freshman Torion Bailey (Mayfair HS) ran a 1:55.00 in the 800 meters, which placed him second, while in field events, sophomore Bruce McCall (Norwalk HS) placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 47' 1/4". In the throwing events, freshman Jeramey Cutler (Lakewood HS) finished fourth in the shot put (49' 3 1/3") and fifth in the discus (145' 11").

The 400-meter relay team of English, sophomore Qwynn Montgomery (Long Beach Millikan HS), freshman Kevin Jones and Caesar placed second with a time of 42.43, with the 1600-meter relay team coming in fifth place after finishing in 3:20.04. That quartet was comprised of Bailey, sophomore Brandon Dickson (Long Beach Millikan HS), Caesar and Joseph.
