On Friday, the
Cerritos College men's track and field team
hosted both El Camino College and Saddleback
College in a three-team non-conference meet. The
Falcons were not very good hosts, as they
defeated both the Warriors (148-135) and the
Gauchos (148-84) to run their season record to
2-0. The team will now travel to Moorpark
College on Friday for a 12:00 p.m.
non-conference meet.
The Falcons
won eight of the events, while they placed
second in five other events and came in third
place 10 more times. Sophomore sprinter
Kelsey
Caesar (Klein Forest (TX)
HS/Cal State Long Beach) captured both the
100 meters (10.80) and 200 meters (22.10) and
was joined by freshman
William English (Montebello HS)
in the 100 meters by coming in third place at
11.24. Sophomore
Bruce
McCall (Norwalk HS) was
the only other Cerritos competitor to win two
events, as he captured the triple jump (47' 1)
and the 110-meter IH with a time of 15.42. Along
with McCall, sophomore
Nicholas Armstrong (Long Beach
Poly HS) came in third place in the race in
15.50.
Armstrong also
won the high jump at 6' 4", while he placed
third in the javelin at 144' 8". Sophomore
David
Thomas (Cerritos HS) was
the second place finisher in the javelin at 163'
11" and he came in third in the pole vault at
11' 4". Freshman
Jeramey Cutler (Lakewood HS)
did very well on the day, as he placed second in
the shot put (47'), third in both the discus
(141' 4) and hammer 137' 6"), while he placed
fourth in the javelin at 144' 4".

Huitt (Downey HS) won the
hammer throw with a distance of 147' 7", while
freshman teammate
Noe Sosa
(Downey HS) was right behind at 145'
6".
In the running
events, freshman

Bailey (Mayfair HS) won
the 800 meters in a time of 1:53.07, while
sophomore
Qualaun
Reed (Cabrillo HS) came in
third at 1:59.12. Reed also came in third placed
in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:08.63, while
sophomore
Brandon Dickson (Long Beach
Millikan HS) saw his time of 50.10 put him
in second place. In the distance races, freshman
Russell Kelly (Loara HS)
came in third place in the 3000 meters at
9:18,32, while sophomore teammate
Geovanni Popoca (Valencia HS)
was in fourth at 9:25.28. The 400-meter relay
team won in a time of 42.18, while the
1600-meter relay team saw their time of 3:24.34
put them in second place.
