Men's Track & Field News...

This Week's Sports Schedule

03.06.10 - CERRITOS DOES WELL IN RUNNING EVENTS
Taking only their short distance runners to the Ben Brown Invitational at Cal State Fullerton over the weekend, the Cerritos College men's track and field team did a good job against competition from both community college and Division I programs. The Falcons will now travel north to compete in the San Mateo Invitational on Friday.

In the relay races, Cerritos came in fourth place in the 1600-meter relay and fifth in the 400-meter relay. Sophomore Torion Bailey (Mayfair HS), freshman Juan Tapia (Long Beach Millikan HS) and sophomores Kevin Avery (Washington Prep HS/El Camino College) and LaRon Taylor (Washington Prep HS) comprised the 1600-meter relay team that turned in a time of 3:16.63, while Avery, freshman Ameer Webb (Tustin HS), Taylor and sophomore Sweeney Williams (North Torrance HS) were clocked in 42.28 in the 400-meter relay.

As for the sprints, Webb turned in a strong 10.64 to come in second place in the 100 meters, with Avery in fifth place at 11.00. In the 400 meters, Taylor placed seventh (49.43), while Bailey was a strong fourth place in the 800 meters at 1:55.50, as  freshman Daniel King (El Rancho HS) saw his time of 1:56.84 put him in eighth place.
