The
Cerritos College men’s water polo team saw their bid to
advance to the state championships for the third year in
a row come to an end after they were defeated by Cuesta
College, 15-10, in the first round of the Southern
California Regional Playoffs on Friday. The Falcons
(19-10), were seeded #6 in the playoffs, while the
Cougars were the #3-seeded team. The loss to Cuesta was
also the second of the season for Cerritos, who lost to
them in the championship game of the Cuesta Tournament
earlier in the year.
Freshman
Dan Biag
(Cerritos HS) ended his first season with the
Falcons by scoring three times and concluded the year
with a team-high 48 goals. Sophomore
Chris
Jimenez (Bell Gardens HS/Golden West College)
added two goals, with five others scoring once for
Cerritos. Both sophomore
Andy Laffie
(El Rancho HS) and freshman
Ryan Tamula
(Cerritos HS) each registered two steals, with
sophomore goalkeeper
Alan Nevarez
(Downey HS/Long Beach City College) posting seven
saves and also had two steals. |
