The
Cerritos College men’s water polo won their sixth game
in a row on Wednesday, as they registered a 12-8 South
Coast Conference win at Mt. San Antonio College. With
the victory, the Falcons are now 8-2 overall and 2-0 in
conference action. The team will now host their first
match of the season next Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. when
they take on Los Angeles Trade-Tech College.
It was a hard
fought team victory for the Falcons, who received three
goals from freshman
Louie
Espinoza (Montebello HS), while sophomore
AJ Abrego
(El Rancho HS) continued to distribute the ball
very well, handing out four assists on the day. Cerritos
has many weapons to turn to, as utilized seven different
scorers, while three other players picked up a pair of
goals.
Sophomores
Jimmy
Quintana (Montebello HS) and
Chris
Jimenez (Bell Gardens HS/Golden West JC),
along with freshman
Ryan Tamula
(Cerritos HS) each scored twice, while Jimenez
and sophomore
Torrence Lee
(Cerritos HS) each led the team with two steals.
The Falcons
rotated their goalkeepers, with sophomore
Alan Nevarez
(Downey HS/Long Beach City College) pitching in
with eight saves, while freshman
Josh Del
Toro (Pioneer HS) added six saves. |
