2008 Men's Water Polo News...

This Week's Sports Schedule

10.02.08 - FALCONS WIN SECOND GAME IN AS MANY DAYS
Playing their second home game in as many days, the Cerritos College men's water polo team picked up a 16-5 non-conference win over Merced College on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons improved to 10-2 on the year, as they get set to compete in the Citrus Tournament over the weekend.

Employing an aggressive defensive scheme to keep the Blue Devils off their game, the Falcons posted 23 steals, with 12 of the 15 players that saw action recording at least one steal. On offense, Cerritos used 11 goal scorers, as the team was in complete control from the outset.

The Falcons opened up a 6-0 lead in the first quarter with six different players scoring. From that point, Cerritos looked to spread their offense and received a game-high three goals from sophomore Miguel Villalobos (Whittier HS), with three others adding two tallies. Feeding his teammates the ball was sophomore Louie Espinoza (Montebello HS), who dished out four assists, while sophomores Mark Zuniga (Downey HS) and Chris Argueta (Cathedral HS) each added two.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ian Pawlowski (La Serna HS) played the entire game for the Falcons and finished with eight saves, while he also registered two steals and assisted on a goal.

Joining in on the scoring were Espinoza, sophomore Adam Arambula (Kennedy HS) and freshman Pat Muniz (Santa Fe HS), who each had two goals, while freshman Boris Torres (Cathedral HS) led the way with four steals. Sophomore Ryan Tamula (Cerritos HS) posted three steals.
