The Cerritos
College men's water polo team ran their record to
5-1 on the year after their 12-6 non-conference win
at Los Angeles Valley College on Friday. The Falcons
will now enter the Cal Lutheran Tournament for two
games, with one against Chapman University and the
other against Ventura College.
After a tight
first half with the Falcons leading, 5-2, they
opened the game up by outscoring the Monarchs, 4-0
in the third quarter for a 9-2 lead. A quartet of
players scored twice for Cerritos, with sophomore
Chris Argueta (Cathedral HS)
dishing out three assists to pace the team.
Sophomores
Miguel
Villalobos (Whittier HS),
Louie Espinoza (Montebello HS)
and
Ryan
Tamula (Cerritos HS) along
with freshman
Cory
Baccus (Whittier HS) all
scored twice, with Cerritos posting 12 steals on the
day. Baccus, Tamula and sophomore
Dan Biag
(Cerritos HS) each recorded two steals. The
goalkeeping trio of sophomores
Ian
Pawlowski (La Serna HS) and
Josh Del Toro (Pioneer HS),
along with freshman
Kieran
Hattie (Sacred Heart College, New
Zealand) combined for six saves in the win.
