Glen Myer began his career
with the Cerritos College women’s water polo
program in its inaugural season in 1998 as
their head coach. During that time, he has
also served as the head coach of the women’s
swimming team. Entering this season, he will
serve as an assistant with the men’s program
for the fifth year. In addition, Myer has
coached water polo at Warren High and
Fountain Valley High, and at Gahr High,
where he coached both water polo and
swimming.
Myer was a member of the 1973 and 1974
Cerritos College water polo teams, where he
was a goalie and field player, and on the
swimming team, specializing in springboard
diving and the butterfly. As a student at
Warren High, Myer was a goalie as a junior
and a field player his senior season. Myer
learned to swim just one year before he
entered high school and made himself into a
fine polo player and swimmer. He
matriculated to Cal State Los Angeles, where
he was an Honorable Mention All-American as
a senior and was named 1st Team
All-Conference. In addition, he was named
his team’s captain his senior year on the
water polo team.
Myer graduated Magna Cum Laude with a
Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary
Studies with a minor in Physical Education
at California State University at Dominguez
Hills. He earned his Master of Science
degree in Physical Education at Azusa
Pacific University.
Myer and his wife Audrey have been married
for 27 years and have two children—Marci
(25), a
graduate of the University of Colorado at
Boulder and Nick (22), a sophomore at Orange
Coast College. Both Myer children are avid
swimmers and polo players. Coach Myer is
still active in water polo and has played on
various club and master’s leagues in the
Orange County and Los Angeles areas. |
