The Cerritos College men's water polo team concluded the season with a 17-11 record and a berth in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. They were rewarded with seven players earning All-South Coast Conference recognition, led by sophomore PJ Gabayeron (Cerritos HS), who was one of three Tri-Players of the Year. Three others earned 1st Team honors and three more received 2nd Team recognition.
Gabayeron, who was a 1st Team All-Southern California selection last year, finished second on the team with 68 goals, while he added 30 assists and a team-high 48 steals. For his career, Gabayeron finishes third in career goals (131), second in career steals (112) and tied for fifth in career assists (68), while his 68 goals this season were the ninth-most in a year.
Joining Gabayeron on the 1st Team are freshmen Isaac Ogloblin (T.E.S. Cervantes, Spain HS) and Pete Sirihanyakorn (Cerritos HS), along with sophomore Jon Canizales (Whittier HS). Ogloblin led the team with 82 goals this season, along with 28 assists and 38 steals. His 82 goals this year are the fifth-most in a season. As for Sirihanyakorn,
he posted 28 goals, to go along with a team-high 34 assists and 35 steals. Canizales, who was a two-time 1st Team selection, posted 18 goals, with 25 assists and 36 steals.
Named to the 2nd Team were sophomores Pat McCarthy (Downey HS) and Justin Calderon (El Rancho HS), along with freshman Isaiah Irvine (Whittier HS). Both McCarthy (30 goals, 15 assists, 25
steals) and Calderon (211 saves) were two-year selections, with Irvine finishing third on the team with 38
goals to go along with his 10 assists and 34 steals. Calderon finishes his
Falcon career with 375 saves, the second most in school history.
