2006 Softball Bio

MELISSA ROBLEDO – Catcher
Melissa Robledo HS/COLLEGE: St. Joseph H.S. (2004)

Freshman 2005: Named 1st Team All-South Coast Conference and 1st Team All-JuCalTransfer.com as a catcher… Batted .278 with three home runs and 21 RBI… Hit her three home runs in a span of four games… Also clubbed 10 doubles and committed just two errors for a .989 fielding percentage… West 3-for-4 with two RBI in a win over East Los Angeles, while she drove in two runs in an 8-5 victory over Cypress… Drilled a three-run home run to help defeat Ventura after clubbing a two-run shot the game before in beating Glendale… Had a round-tripper in a 6-0 win over El Camino and helped defeat Pasadena City, 3-2 with a two-run double… Went 3-for-4 with two RBI in an 11-2 win over Long Beach City…

St. Joseph H.S. (2004): Played for Coach Anthony Munoz in high school… Named 1st Team All-Serra League as a catcher her senior season… Also named the league’s Most Valuable Player and All-Arroyo Grande Tournament… Voted 2nd Team All-League as a junior and earned a Gold Glove Award… Named her team’s Best Defensive Player as a senior, junior and freshman… Most memorable moment was playing in her farewell game her senior year in high school…

Personal: Majoring in kinesiology with a minor in athletic training and would like to transfer to San Diego State or Cal State Northridge… Is studying to be an athletic trainer, nurse or homicide detective… Nicknamed “Missy”… Has two sisters – Katrina (32) and Denise (22)… Is the daughter of Mike and Anita Robledo… Born in Bellflower, CA on December 14, 1985…

When I’m 35 I Want To Be:  Married with 3-5 kids and have a successful career.
Best Advice I’ve Ever Been Given:  What doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger.

My Biggest Fears Are:
Failing, loneliness, fire and losing the people I love the most.
Most Cherished Possessions: Pictures, my best friend’s ring, sentimental stuffed animals.
My Biggest Pet Peeve: When people use improper English and grammar… and bad drivers.

Hobbies and Leisure-Time Activities:
  Hanging out with my friends, listening to music, talking on the phone and computer and watching movies.
Three Words That Describe My Playing Style:
  Aggressive; tough; pride
If I Could Change One Thing About Myself I Would:  Have more patience.
Favorite Childhood Softball Memory:  The years of playing travel ball.

My Softball Fantasy Is:
Play in the Women’s College World Series.
After Home Softball Games I Like To:
  Rest, eat and hang out with teammates or other friends.
