The seedings for the Southern California Regional Playoffs were announced and Cerritos College was seeded #4 and will host their first round series. The first round, which is a best two-out-of-three series, will be played at Nancy Kelly Field, starting on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The Falcons, who came in second place in the South Coast Conference, enter the post-season with a 30-9-1 record and will be facing 13-seeded Grossmont College (24-6-1), who came in a three-way tie for first place in the Pacific Coast Conference. The second game will be played on Sunday at noon, with a third game, if needed, to be played at 2:00 p.m. The winners of the first round advance to the Super Regional, which will be played the following weekend and will also be a best two-out-of-three series. The final four remaining teams move on to the state championships, which will be held at Big League Dreams Park in Chino Hills.
Cerritos returns to the playoffs after missing out last season when they went 19-19. This year also marks the second time in four years that the Falcons will face Grossmont in the first round. Back in 2004, the team was stunned by the Griffins, 7-5, which eliminated Cerritos from the post-season.
