Freshman
pitcher
Korrin
Soldan
(Katella
HS)
had her
best
game of
the
season,
as she
limited
Moorpark
to just
three
hits,
while
the
offense
provided
early
and
often,
as they
scored
in four
of the
six
innings.
In
the
bottom
of the
first
inning,
back-to-back-singles
by
freshman
catcher
Nadine
Garcia
(Mayfair
HS)
and
freshman
third
baseman
Jessica
Navarro
(South
Gate HS)
led to
an RBI
sacrifice
fly by
freshman
first
baseman
Stephanie
Lomeli
(Montebello
HS).
After
three
hits
loaded
the
bases
for the
Falcons
in the
second
inning,
freshman
shortstop
Jenel
Guadagno
(Warren
HS)
singled
home the
second
run of
the
game.
In
the
fourth
inning,
freshman
outfielder
Katie
Colln
(Mayfair
HS),
playing
her
first
game of
the
season
on right
field,
doubled
to lead
off the
inning.
After a
ground
ball
out, the
Falcons
picked
up
another
run on a
fielding
error by
Moorpark
pitcher
Gina
Lovato.
Guadagno
followed
with a
single,
while
Lomeli
drove
home
both
runners
with a
base hit
to right
field.
The
Falcons
ended
the game
early
with
three
runs in
the
bottom
of the
sixth
inning,
as
freshman pinch-hitter
Candice
Cabrera
(El
Rancho
HS)
led
off with
a walk,
followed
by base
hits
from Guadagno
and
Garcia.
After a
fielder's
choice
cut down
Cabrera
at the
plate,
Lomeli
laced a
single
which
scored
Guadagno
and
Garcia.
A
throwing
error by
the
outfielder
allowed
Navarro
to
score,
which ended
the game
on the
eight-run
mercy
rule.
Soldan
improved
to 4-3
on the
year
after
allowing
three
harmless
singled,
while
her
defense
turned
two
double
plays.
