Freshman
designated
hitter
Charlee
Cox
(Warren
HS)
singled
home
freshman
pitcher
Jessica
Navarro
(South
Gate
HS)
with
two
outs
in
the
bottom
of
the
fourth
inning
for
the
game's
only
run,
as
the
Cerritos
College
softball
team
posted
a
1-0
win
over
Santa
Ana
College
at
Nancy
Kelly
Field
on
Sunday
morning.
The
win
was
the
third
in a
row
for
the
Falcons
(16-7-1)
at
the
Tri-County
Tournament,
which
is
being
played
at
Cerritos
College.
The
team
will
conclude
their
day
with
a
2:00
p.m.
contest
against
Fullerton
College
at
2:00
p.m.
Navarro
started
the
inning
by
legging
out
a
double
to
left
field
and
looked
to
be
stranded
there
until
Cox
came
up
with
the
base
hit,
which
drove
her
home.
It
marked
the
only
time
the
Falcons
had
a
runner
reach
past
first
base
against
Dons
pitcher
Ashley
Perdue
(9-7).
Santa
Ana
(16-14-1)
looked
to
put
themselves
in
position
to
tie
the
game
in
the
top
of
the
seventh
inning,
but
a
solid
defensive
play
accounted
for
the
last
out
of
the
game.
Vanessa
Hardway
drilled
a
ball
into
the
right-center
field
gap
and
was
on
her
way
to
third
base
for
a
triple.
But
freshman
Stephanie
Lomeli
(Montebello
HS),
playing
her
first
game
of
the
season
in
centerfield,
threw
a
one-hopper
to
freshman
third
baseman
Katie
Colln
(Mayfair
HS)
to
cut
down
Hardway
and
end
the
game.
On
the
day,
Navarro
allowed
three
hits
and
struck
out
three
to
beat
Santa
Ana
for
the
second
time
in
the
tournament
and
run
her
season
record
to
12-4.
