Named 1st Team All-South Coast
Conference as a catcher… Started 48 games last
season and batted .353 with eight doubles, four
home runs and 17 RBI… Also scored 46 runs, which
was second on the team and had 54 hits… Was
batting over .400 through the first 23 games…
Had 18 multiple-hit games, which included five
three-hit games… Drove in a season-high three
runs against Santa Barbara City College and had
three hits, followed by another three-hit game
against Los Angeles Valley College… Posted an
eight-game hitting streak where she went
15-for-28 (.536)…
Mayfair HS:
Played for Coach Kim Monteleone in high school…
Was a three-time Scholar-Athlete… Named 1st
Team All-Suburban League as a senior after
earning 2nd Team honors her junior
season… Batted over .400 with a .980 fielding
percentage her senior season and was named the
team’s Best Offensive Hitter… Team came in
second place in the league and lost in the first
round of the CIF Playoffs… As a sophomore, she
was voted her team’s Most Valuable Player, Team
Captain, Best Offensive Hitter and Best
Defender… Also played on the volleyball team…
Personal:
Most memorable moment was when she went 7-for-8
in a doubleheader against Lakewood High her
senior year and was also able to play the season
with her younger sister, Natalie (16), who also
plays basketball at Mayfair High… Would like to
transfer to any school that offers a
scholarship, but prefers Sonoma State or the
University of Hawaii… Is studying to be a
kindergarten teacher… Likes to hang out with
friends, go to the movies and spend time with
her family her spare time… Nicknamed “Dine”… Has
two other siblings – Jay (14) and Jacob (5)… Is
the daughter of Juan and Elizabeth Garcia… Born
in Bellflower, CA on January 15, 1988….. |
