Cerritos (2007):
Named 1st Team All-South Coast
Conference as a first baseman… Earned the Gold
Glove Award in the state championships after
playing flawless defense… Dug out numerous
throws that would have gone for errors… Started
50 games and batted .317 with 16 doubles and 30
RBI… Went 5-for-10 in the three games played on
the final day of the state championships… Had 17
multiple-hit games, which included a 4-for-4
game with two doubles against East Los Angeles
College… Also collected three hits against
Chaffey College, Antelope Valley College and
College of the Canyons… Drove in a season-high
four runs in a win over Allan Hancock College…
Recorded a season-long six-game hitting streak…
Was solid defensively all season and had a .982
fielding percentage… Moved to second base in the
state championships after Vanezza Martin Del
Campo was injured and couldn’t play the
position…
Montebello HS:
Played for Coach Laurie Capps in high school…
Helped lead her team to four straight Almont
League championships… As a senior, she was named
her school’s Athlete of the Year, as well as
being voted the league’s Most Valuable Player…
Also selected 1st Team All-Area…
Clubbed 14 home runs and had just two errors all
season… Also selected Athlete of the Month twice
and was voted the school’s Homecoming Queen… Was
a 1st Team All-League selection as a
junior and was her team’s Co-MVP after hitting
11 home runs… Also named Athlete of the Month on
two separate occasions… Missed her sophomore
year due to injuries, but was still named
Athlete of the Month two different times… In her
freshman year, she was a 1st Team
All-Area choice and hit eight home runs… Named
Athlete of the Month one time… Also spent four
years on the basketball team and was a two-time
1st Team All-League choice… Named the
team’s Best Defensive Player as a senior… Was a
2nd Team All-League selection as a
sophomore after being named All-League Honorable
Mention as a freshman….
Personal:
Working on a minor in oceanography… Likes to
collect turtles in her spare time… Nicknamed
“Lomeli”… Has three siblings – Valerie (16),
Melissa (11) and Reuben (9)… Is the daughter of
Dolores Fernandez… Born in West Covina, CA on
