It didn't take
long for the Cerritos College softball team to snap
out of their losing streak. The Falcons, who dropped
their last three games, scored eight first-inning
runs against El Camino College en route to a 15-2
five-inning South Coast Conference game on Thursday.
With the win, Cerritos is now 23-7-1 overall and 9-1
in conference action. The team will now travel to
Riverside College on Friday for a 3:00 p.m.
non-conference game.
The Falcons scored
their eight runs in the first inning with on six
hits, two walks and a Warrior error. Both sophomore
outfielder
Jennifer
Salas (California HS) and
freshman second baseman
Lindsey
Marquez (Gahr HS) had
back-to-back two-run doubles, while four others had
one RBI apiece.
At the plate,
freshman outfielder
Devin
Salmones (Gahr HS) drove in a
run in each of her four plate appearances,
collecting two singles, a double and a sacrifice
fly. As for Lindsey Marquez, she went 4-for-4 with
three RBI and three runs scored, while Salas
(1-for-3, two RBI, three runs) and freshman
Brandi
Rummel (La Serna HS), who had
two hits, two RBI and two runs scored, also had
multiple-hit games for the Falcons.
