Cerritos Softball (2009):
Recorded the most amazing offensive season in
the history of the college… In addition to be
named the Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year,
Vaaulu was also named 1st Team
All-American, 1st Team All-State and
1st Team All-South Coast Conference…
Obliterated the single-season home run record
with 20 (the old record was 13) and is closing
in on the career home run record of 24… In the
Super Regional clinching win over Saddleback
College, she set a single-game record with three
home runs in the game, while she drove in six
runs, her high of the season… With her 71 RBI,
she tied the single-season record… In starting
all 53 games behind the plate, she is batted
.454 to lead the team, along with 14 doubles and
two triples, while she had a .933 slugging
percentage… Didn’t commit her first error of the
season until the final game of the year, while
she threw out 17-of-31 base stealers… Posted a
17-game hitting streak on the year and had at
least one hit in 46 games… During her streak,
she batted .528 (28-for-53) with eight home runs
and 31 RBI… Has at least one home run a period
of five of six games… Posted 21 multiple-hit
games and 24 multiple-RBI games… Had a
season-high four hits against both Los Angeles
Harbor (4-for-4, 5 RBI, 3 runs, HR) and El
Camino (4-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 runs)… In addition to
setting the record with 20 home runs and 71 RBI,
she also set the single-season mark with 32
walks, and drew nine free passes in the four
state tournament games… Also finished the season
in the top 10 with a .464 batting average (8th),
74 hits (3rd) 14 doubles (7th)
and 60 runs scored (3rd)…..
Warren HS:
Played for Coach Mary Starksen… Helped lead her
team to the CIF Championship game… Spent four
years on the softball team and three on the
basketball team…..
Personal:
Would like to transfer to Cal State Long Beach…
Likes to hang out with friends in her spare
time… Nicknamed “Sam”… Has three siblings –
Augafa (16), Franny (15) and Jonathan (13)… Is
the daughter of Augafa and Queen Vaaulu… Born on
