Kodee Murray took her
team to the State Tournament for the third straight
year, and is just one season removed from capturing the
school’s second state title. During the 2009 season,
Murray led the Falcons to a 41-11-1 record finished in
the Final Four of the state tournament. In addition to
that, they entered the state tournament winning their
last 12 post-season games. Since arriving on campus in
2002, Murray has lifted the program to one the state’s
most elite and reached the pinnacle during the 2008
season. After guiding an all-freshman team to the
championship game in 2007, she brought an experienced
team back to the state tournament in 2008. They made
their intention known that the state championship was
what they were there for and by the time the dust had
settled, the Falcons had their second state title in
school history. Murray guided the team to a 43-5 record,
which included a 5-1 win over Mt. San Antonio College in
the state championship game. The wins set a new school
record, while this year’s team is looking to eclipse
that mark.
Now in her eighth
season, Murray has posted a 251-98-2 (.718) record,
which includes three South Coast Conference
championships, including the last two seasons, while the
team has advanced to the Southern California Regional
Playoffs all eight years. Ever since she arrived, Murray
has established herself as one of the top-notch coaches
in the state, and was honored in 2007 by being named the
Southern California Coach of the Year, while she has
been named the conference Coach of the Year twice. Back
in 2004, the team won their first conference
championship in 14 years and were the #2-seeded team in
Southern California, while they have also been seeded #2
the last two seasons, as well.
The names below are the unsigned

THE 2008 Cerritos College
softball team won the CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE State
Championship. This team was sophomore-heavy and
dominated with a 43-5 overall record and an 8-0 sweep in
the post season tournament. This was a great team and a
hard one to replace.
The freshman class that replaced the 2008 State
Champions is a stellar group of athletes. It was very
difficult for them to match the 2008 teams’ success and
be back on the field for the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
TOURNAMENT in 2009 but they did that and more:
1. The 2009 team won the South Coast Conference, a
conference that has established itself as one of the top
softball conferences in the state.
2. The 2009 team swept the Southern California Regional
Tournament.
3. The 2009 team swept the Southern California Super
Regional Tournament.
4. The 2009 team placed in the Final Four of the
CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.
I have written some highlights for each player. If you

Thank you and good luck to you this season.
