Christal Lara,
who was a 2nd Team All-South Coast Conference selection,
became the second Falcon player to sign a scholarship.
Lara will join NAIA powerhouse Dickinson State (ND)
University, who finished fifth in the NAIA National
Championship this past season, and have won the last 12
Dakota Athletic Conference championship. While with the
Falcons this past season, Lara helped the team to a
second place finish in the South Coast Coast Conference
as a right side hitter and setter. She appeared in 80 of
the team's 87 games and finished with 65 kills, 275
assists, 114 digs, 31 service aces and 40 blocks...[more]

at Whittier College
After spending two seasons as the co-head
coach of the Cerritos College volleyball team,
Ali Oliver
has recently been named the new head coach at Whittier
College. This will be the first head coaching position
at the four-year level for Oliver, who helped lead the
Falcons to a pair of second place finishes in the South
Coast Conference the past two seasons. Oliver will also
be taking over a Poets team that went 3-18 on the year
and are members of the Southern California
Intercollegiate Athlete Conference playing at the

The Cerritos College volleyball team
closed out their regular season on Wednesday night with
a 30-16, 30-23, 30-18 South Coast Conference home win
against Pasadena City College. The win kept the Falcons
in a second place tie with Mt. San Antonio at 11-3,
while they are now 12-8 on the year and get set for the
Southern California Regional Playoffs, which start on

Southern California, with the top eight teams playing at

The Cerritos College volleyball team saw
their eight-match winning streak come to an end at home
on Friday night, as they dropped a 30-24, 27-30, 30-28,

The Cerritos College volleyball team
picked up their eighth straight victory on Wednesday

Falcons beat El Camino in four
A month ago, the Cerritos College
volleyball team was searching for answers, as they were
mired in a slump with a 1-5 record entering South Coast
Conference play. After an opening round loss to El
Camino College, it was unsure as to whether or not the
team would even qualify for the post-season. Since then,
Cerritos has won six out of their last seven matches,
which includes a thrilling 30-21, 30-27, 13-30, 30-25
win over the Warriors at home on Wednesday night. El
Camino entered the match as the #2 team in the state and
the final undefeated team in the state. With the win,
the Falcons are now 7-7 on the year and 6-2 in

The Cerritos College volleyball team
needed just a little over an hour to record their South
Coast Conference home win against Los Angeles Harbor

30-11, 30-12 victory to run their season record to 4-7
overall and 3-2 in conference action. The team will now

match to LBCC in four games
In their earlier losses this season, the
Cerritos College volleyball team had been victimized by
opposing teams running off points in bunches and then
being unable to come back from the deficit. In their
South Coast Conference match against cross-town rival
Long Beach City at Cerritos on Wednesday night, the
Falcons found themselves leading by as many as six
points in three different games, but were only able to
win one of them. The result was a four-game loss by
Cerritos, 24-30, 24-30, 30-26, 24-30 which drops their
season record to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference,
while the Vikings improved to 10-2 overall and 4-0 in

from emotional setback
For the Cerritos College volleyball team,
chemistry is starting to play a huge role in their
season. The Falcons, competing in the San Diego Mesa
Tournament this past weekend, started off strong by
sweeping Ventura (25-18, 25-21), San Bernardino Valley
(25-19, 25-20) and Grossmont (25-19, 25-11) in pool
play. At that point, they were the only team to be
undefeated in pool play and were primed to go far in the
playoffs. But, in their final pool play match against

went down with an injury and it seemed to affect the
continuity of the team play and the Falcons struggled
from there. They lost in two games to Delta, 21-25,
20-25 and were then defeated by San Diego Mesa, 29-31,
16-30, 31-29, 26-30 in the playoffs. The loss to the
Olympians dropped the team's record to 1-4 on the season
and the Falcons will look to rebound when they travel to
Fullerton College on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m.

but can't hold off Orange Coast
The Cerritos College volleyball team was
able to do something on Wednesday night that no other
team in the state was able to do last season. The
Falcons, who were facing defending state champion Orange
Coast College, won the first game, 30-22, which no team
was able to do last year. However, the Pirates responded
by winning the next three games, 30-21, 30-24, 30-26 to
record the non-conference victory. The loss dropped
Cerritos to 1-3 on the season and they will look to
right the ship this weekend when they compete in the San

The Cerritos College volleyball team went
6-0 in pool play at the Santa Ana Tournament over the
