06.12.07 - Christal Lara signs with NAIA power Dickinson State
Cerritos College volleyball setter Christal Lara, who was a 2nd Team All-South Coast Conference selection, became the second Falcon player to sign a scholarship. Lara will join NAIA powerhouse Dickinson State (ND) University, who finished fifth in the NAIA National Championship this past season, and have won the last 12 Dakota Athletic Conference championship. While with the Falcons this past season, Lara helped the team to a second place finish in the South Coast Coast Conference as a right side hitter and setter. She appeared in 80 of the team's 87 games and finished with 65 kills, 275 assists, 114 digs, 31 service aces and 40 blocks...[more]
 

05.17.07 - Ali Oliver named head coach at Whittier College
After spending two seasons as the co-head coach of the Cerritos College volleyball team, Ali Oliver has recently been named the new head coach at Whittier College. This will be the first head coaching position at the four-year level for Oliver, who helped lead the Falcons to a pair of second place finishes in the South Coast Conference the past two seasons. Oliver will also be taking over a Poets team that went 3-18 on the year and are members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athlete Conference playing at the Division III level...[more]
 

04.16.07 - Falcon volleyball player signs with four-year school
After earning 1st Team All-South Coast Conference and finishing second on the team in kills and digs, Cerritos College volleyball player Terri Del Conte (Lakewood HS) has signed a letter of intent to continue her education and playing career at Missouri State University. 11.21.06 - Loss to Golden West in playoffs ends season
The Cerritos College volleyball team saw their season come to an end on Tuesday night with their 29-31, 25-30, 21-30 loss to host Golden West College in the first round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons, seeded #10 in the playoffs, ended their season with a 12-9 record, while the #7-seeded Rustlers, 14-4, move on to the second round...[more]

11.20.06 - Cerritos seeded #10 for the playoffs
After coming in a tie for second place in the South Coast Conference, the Cerritos College volleyball team was seeded #10 for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs. As a result, the Falcons (12-8) will travel to #7-seeded Golden West College (14-5) on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. match. 11.15.06 - Falcons finish regular season tied for second
The Cerritos College volleyball team closed out their regular season on Wednesday night with a 30-16, 30-23, 30-18 South Coast Conference home win against Pasadena City College. The win kept the Falcons in a second place tie with Mt. San Antonio at 11-3, while they are now 12-8 on the year and get set for the Southern California Regional Playoffs, which start on Tuesday. As of the last rankings, Cerritos was ninth in Southern California, with the top eight teams playing at home to start the playoffs...[more]

11.10.06 - Loss to Mt. SAC ends win streak and puts them in tie for second
The Cerritos College volleyball team saw their eight-match winning streak come to an end at home on Friday night, as they dropped a 30-24, 27-30, 30-28, 17-30, 8-15 South Coast Conference decision to Mt. San Antonio College. With the loss, the Falcons (11-8 overall) are now tied for second place with the Mounties at 10-3 with one regular season game remaining. 11.09.06 - Sweep over LA Harbor puts winning streak at eight
The Cerritos College volleyball team picked up their eighth straight victory on Wednesday night when they recorded a 30-14, 30-12, 30-11 South Coast Conference victory at Los Angeles Harbor College. The Falcons (11-7 overall, 10-2 SCC), who are rated #17 in the state and #11 in Southern California, have a big home match against Mt. San Antonio College at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. 11.03.06 - Falcons record huge win over LBCC to take over second place
On the strength of 17 kills by sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Espinoza (Santa Fe HS) and 14 more kills from sophomore outside hitter Terri Del Conte (Lakewood HS), the Cerritos College volleyball team continued their stunning comeback this year, as they posted a 30-26, 30-19, 35-33 South Coast Conference victory at Long Beach City College on Friday night. With the win, the Falcons are now alone in second place with a 9-2 conference mark, while they are 10-7 on the year. Since their loss to the Vikings back on October 11, Cerritos has now won seven matches in a row and shot up the state rankings. 11.01.06 - Sweep over Los Angeles City sets up showdown against LBCC
The Cerritos College volleyball team was met with little resistance in extending their winning streak to six matches, as they recorded a 30-7, 30-8, 30-25 South Coast Conference home win against Los Angeles City College on Wednesday night. The Falcons are now 8-2 in the SCC and 9-7 overall, as they prepare for a crucial contest at Long Beach City College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night. 10.27.06 - Win streak increases to five after victory over East LA
The Cerritos College volleyball team won their fifth consecutive South Coast Conference match on Friday, as they defeated East Los Angeles College, 30-20, 29-31, 30-23, 30-16. With the win, the Falcons are now 8-7 on the year and 7-2 in the SCC, while they have now jumped to #18 in the state rankings. 10.25.06 - Transformation continues as Falcons beat El Camino in four
A month ago, the Cerritos College volleyball team was searching for answers, as they were mired in a slump with a 1-5 record entering South Coast Conference play. After an opening round loss to El Camino College, it was unsure as to whether or not the team would even qualify for the post-season. Since then, Cerritos has won six out of their last seven matches, which includes a thrilling 30-21, 30-27, 13-30, 30-25 win over the Warriors at home on Wednesday night. El Camino entered the match as the #2 team in the state and the final undefeated team in the state. With the win, the Falcons are now 7-7 on the year and 6-2 in conference play. 10.20.06 - Team rolls to third straight win; hosts top-seeded El Camino next
The Cerritos College volleyball team won their third straight match when they defeated Pasadena City College, 30-27, 30-11, 30-23 on Friday night. The Falcons, 6-7 on the season, are now 5-2 in the South Coast Conference and will now host El Camino College on Wednesday in a 7:30 p.m. match. 10.18.06 - Falcons make move towards post-season with big win
The Cerritos College volleyball team knows that if they are going to make a serious bid to reach the post-season, they are going to have to finish in at least third place in the South Coast Conference. The Falcons made a serious move after a thrilling 30-26, 27-30, 30-27, 30-21 win at Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday night. With the victory, Cerritos is now tied with the Mounties with a 4-2 SCC record, while the team is now 5-7 on the year. 10.13.06 - Falcons sweep past LA Harbor; Travel to Mt. San Antonio next
The Cerritos College volleyball team needed just a little over an hour to record their South Coast Conference home win against Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday night. The Falcons posted a 30-11, 30-11, 30-12 victory to run their season record to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in conference action. The team will now travel to Mt. San Antonio College for a 5:00 p.m. match next Wednesday...[more]

10.11.06 - Falcons drop conference match to LBCC in four games
In their earlier losses this season, the Cerritos College volleyball team had been victimized by opposing teams running off points in bunches and then being unable to come back from the deficit. In their South Coast Conference match against cross-town rival Long Beach City at Cerritos on Wednesday night, the Falcons found themselves leading by as many as six points in three different games, but were only able to win one of them. The result was a four-game loss by Cerritos, 24-30, 24-30, 30-26, 24-30 which drops their season record to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while the Vikings improved to 10-2 overall and 4-0 in the SCC. The Cerritos College volleyball team made it two wins in a row after they posted a 30-26, 30-18, 30-23 South Coast Conference victory at Los Angeles City on Friday night. The Cerritos College volleyball team broke out of their slump in a three-game sweep over East Los Angeles College on Wednesday, as they posted a 30-10, 30-25, 30-13 South Coast Conference victory. With the win, the Falcons are now 2-6 on the season and 1-1 in conference action. 09.30.06 - Falcons open conference with loss to El Camino
After struggling through a difficult pre-season, the Cerritos College volleyball team was faced with the dubious task of opening their South Coast Conference schedule with El Camino College, the defending conference champion. The Falcons struggled against the Warriors and were defeated in three games, 14-30, 20-30, 20-30 to fall to 1-6 on the season and 0-1 in the SCC. 09.28.06 - Loss ends pre-season record at 1-5 for Falcons
The Cerritos College volleyball team saw their season record drop to 1-5 after their 21-30, 26-30, 11-30 loss at Fullerton College on Wednesday night in a non-conference match. The Falcons will look to rebound on Friday when they start South Coast Conference action. Their first task won't be easy, as it's up against defending conference champion El Camino College, with the match taking place at 6:00 p.m...[more]

09.25.06 - Cerritos looks to rebound from emotional setback
For the Cerritos College volleyball team, chemistry is starting to play a huge role in their season. The Falcons, competing in the San Diego Mesa Tournament this past weekend, started off strong by sweeping Ventura (25-18, 25-21), San Bernardino Valley (25-19, 25-20) and Grossmont (25-19, 25-11) in pool play. At that point, they were the only team to be undefeated in pool play and were primed to go far in the playoffs. But, in their final pool play match against San Joaquin Delta, freshman setter/outside hitter Hilary Van Hofwegen (Calvary Chapel HS) went down with an injury and it seemed to affect the continuity of the team play and the Falcons struggled from there. They lost in two games to Delta, 21-25, 20-25 and were then defeated by San Diego Mesa, 29-31, 16-30, 31-29, 26-30 in the playoffs. The loss to the Olympians dropped the team's record to 1-4 on the season and the Falcons will look to rebound when they travel to Fullerton College on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference match...[more]

09.21.06 - Falcons get quick start, but can't hold off Orange Coast
The Cerritos College volleyball team was able to do something on Wednesday night that no other team in the state was able to do last season. The Falcons, who were facing defending state champion Orange Coast College, won the first game, 30-22, which no team was able to do last year. However, the Pirates responded by winning the next three games, 30-21, 30-24, 30-26 to record the non-conference victory. The loss dropped Cerritos to 1-3 on the season and they will look to right the ship this weekend when they compete in the San Diego Mesa Tournament...[more]

09.18.06 - Cerritos loses in quarters of tourney against Fullerton
The Cerritos College volleyball team went 6-0 in pool play at the Santa Ana Tournament over the weekend and were pitted against Fullerton College in the first quarterfinal match. However, for the Falcons, they dropped a 30-19 decision and were eliminated from the tournament. 09.14.06 - Volleyball drops second straight match, now 1-2
The Cerritos College volleyball team found out how easily it is for a team to score points in bunches with their scoring system. The Falcons saw College of the Canyons put together two huge rallies to account for two of their games, as Cerritos suffered their second straight loss, this time by a 27-30, 30-26, 26-30, 15-30 score. Next up for the team will be the Santa Ana Tournament this Saturday...[more]

09.08.06 - Cerritos suffers first defeat of season
Facing one of the most improved teams in Southern California, the Cerritos College volleyball team was swept at home in three games by Citrus College, 19-30, 28-30, 20-30 to drop to 1-1 on the season, while the Owls improved to 2-0. 09.07.06 - Cerritos records sweep over Santa Monica
The Cerritos College volleyball team opened their 2006 season with a 30-24, 30-18, 30-22 non-conference road win over Santa Monica on Wednesday.
