along with 72 digs and six service aces…
Whittier HS:
Was a three-sport athlete… Spent four years on
the volleyball and softball teams and spent two
years on the basketball team… Named the
volleyball team’s Most Valuable Player three
years in a row and was a 1st Team
All-Del Rio League selection her senior and
sophomore seasons… Named their team captain
three years in a row… Earned 2nd Team
All-League recognition as a junior and freshman,
while she was voted the team’s Defensive Player
of the Year as a freshman… Voted the school’s
Freshman Athlete of the Year… Earned three
All-Tournament team honors and was an All-CIF
Honorable Mention choice as a freshman… On the
basketball team as a senior, she was named their
Defensive Player of the Year and earned
all-league Honorable Mention… As a junior on the
softball team, she was named all-league
Honorable Mention and earned a Gold Glove Award…
Personal:
Most memorable volleyball moment was when she
recorded 52 digs, 21 kills, six assists, five
service aces and four blocks to help defeat
Sante Fe High in their gym, which prevented them
from being tied for first place… In her final
home basketball game, she scored 17 points with
nine rebounds and six steals, while she was also
a double away from hitting for the cycle in
softball… Is considering working on a minor in
either sports management or sports marketing and
would like to transfer to either Cal State Long
Beach or any other school where she can continue
to play volleyball… Likes to shop in her spare
time… Nicknamed “Vanna”… Has four siblings –
Elizabeth (23), Jamie (17), Sydney (13) and
Sierra (1)… Is the daughter of James Mojica and
Mercedes Sevilla… Born in Los Angeles, CA on
January 9, 1987….. |
