The Cerritos College volleyball
season closed out their season on Wednesday
with a 15-30, 17-30, 19-30 South Coast
Conference loss against conference champion
El Camino College. The loss ended the
Falcons record at 6-19 overall, while they
finished in fifth place in SCC action.
There wasn’t much
Cerritos could do against the taller
Warriors, who went undefeated in SCC play
and are ranked #2 in the state. The Falcons
did the best they could, but it wasn’t
enough to pull off the upset. Sophomore
Kristin Mendoza (St. Paul HS)
closed out her Cerritos career with a
team-high seven kills, while the trio of
sophomore
Natalie Barajas (California HS),
along with freshmen
Julie Reich (La Mirada HS)
and
Brittany Hayes (Artesia HS)
each finished with three kills.
Sophomore
libero Vanessa Mojica (Whittier HS)
led the team with 11 digs on the night,
while freshman setter Desiree
Cortez (Elizabeth Learning Center HS)
recorded 21 assists and six digs.
