When
she was a volleyball player for Cerritos
College, Kristy
Pesanti was considered the
consummate teammate. Whether it was
being a go-to player on the court, or a
trusted friend, Kristy was someone you
walked away from feeling like you were
around a special person. But on the
morning of April 7, 2008, that special
person was taken away from us. Just 29
years old, Kristy
Pesanti passed away in her sleep
and left countless people wondering why.
Kristy
played for the Falcons from 1996-97
before earning a scholarship to Florida
International University, where she
played for two seasons. She went on to
earn a Bachelors of Arts Degree in
Kinesiology in 2001.
But
what separated Kristy from most people
was her immediate willingness to help
others. For the past 4 1/2 years, Kristy
was employed at the Wiseman Institute
for Drug Rehabilitation at Garden Grove
Hospital. Even more selfless of Kristy
was her deep desire to follow her
father's lead and become a Los Angeles
police officer. There is no doubt that
she would have given her all to help
others.
Kristy is survived by her
parents, Alan and Shelley and her two
sisters, Keri and Katherine. Shelley is
employed by the college as a Mail
Clerk/PBX Operator, while Keri is an
adjunct faculty member and former
Cerritos College basketball player.
Katherine was also a Cerritos College
student.
