The Cerritos
College volleyball team swept Los Angeles Trade-Tech
College on Wednesday night for their second South
Coast Conference win in a row. The 25-8, 25-17,
25-19 win over the Lady Techsters improved the
team's record to 8-11 overall and 5-5 in SCC play.
The Falcons will now travel to El Camino College and
face the state's #2-ranked team on Friday night.
Leading the way in
the win was freshman
Sarah
Naranjo (Santa Fe HS), who led
a balanced hitting attack with eight kills without
any errors. Although the team hit very well, it was
their serve that allowed them to score points in
bunches. As a team, Cerritos posted 15 service aces,
with Naranjo leading the team with four. The win
also came without sophomore setter
Desiree
Cortez (Elizabeth Learning Center
HS), who took the match off. Filling in at the
setter's role was freshman
Kristen
Trillo (Santa Fe HS), who had
29 assists, along with two aces and two kills.
Freshman
Cynthia
Andrade (South Gate HS) added
seven kills, while freshman
Yawen Zhan
(China) contributed five kills with no
errors and three service aces. Also collecting three
aces was freshman
Britney
Otero (Long Beach Wilson HS),
while she also led the team with five digs and two
blocks.
