Facing the
#2-ranked team in the state, the Cerritos College
volleyball team came out on the short end of a
16-25, 13-25, 15-25 South Coast Conference match at
El Camino College on Friday night. The Falcons
dropped to 8-12 overall and 5-6 in conference action
and have three more matches remaining. Next will be
their final home match of the season, as they host
Los Angeles City College at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Warriors used
their overall size and depth to defeat the Falcons,
who were limited to just 18 kills as a team.
Freshman
Britney
Otero (Long Beach Wilson HS)
led the team with six kills, while freshman
Sarah
Naranjo (Santa Fe HS) added
four kills in the three games. Freshmen duo
Yawen Zhan
(China) and
Cynthia
Andrade (South Gate HS) each
contributed three kills.
Sophomore setter
Desiree Cortez (Elizabeth Learning
Center HS) accounted for 14 assists out of the
team's 18 kills, while she also added one kill and
one of the team's two service aces. In the back row,
freshman
Angelica
Sievers (St. Joseph HS) was
the team-leader with five digs.
