The Cerritos
College volleyball team finished up their season on
Wednesday night by getting swept by Long Beach City
College, 17-25, 18-25, 17-25 and finished in fifth
place in the South Coast Conference. The Falcons,
who ended up 9-14 on the year, were 6-8 in
conference action.
In the loss to the
Vikings, who finished in fourth place in the
conference and are ranked #21 in the state, freshmen
Sarah Naranjo (Santa Fe HS)
and
Samantha Mora (Los Altos HS)
led the team offensively with nine kills each, while
Mora also played well in the back row with seven
digs. With her nine kills, Naranjo finished the year
with 270 on the year, which places her tied for 20th
on the school's single-season record list.
Freshman
Yawen Zhan
(China) contributed four kills, while the
team's only sophomore, setter
Desiree
Cortez (Elizabeth Learning Center
HS) dished out 23 assists. She finished the
year with 636 helpers, which is the 14th most in a
season in school history. Freshman
Angelia
Sievers (St. Joseph HS) led
the team with 12 digs and two service aces.
