The Cerritos
College volleyball team swept past East Los Angeles
College on Wednesday night, 25-19, 25-21, 25-12 to
even their South Coast Conference record at 1-1,
while they are 4-7 on the year. The Falcons will now
host Los Angeles Trade-Tech College at 6:00 p.m. on
Friday.
Turning in her
best performance of the year was freshman outside
hitter
Sarah
Naranjo (Santa Fe HS), who led
the team with 14 kills and just one error in 24
attempts. She registered five kills in each of the
first two games and finished the match with four
more kills in the third and deciding set. Feeding
her the ball was sophomore setter
Desiree
Cortez (Elizabeth Learning Center
HS), who dished out 32 assists.
Joining Naranjo in
double-digit kills was freshman outside hitter
Cynthia Andrade (South Gate HS),
who chipped in with 10 kills and only three errors.
Freshman middle blocker
Yawen Zhan
(China) contributed five kills, while
freshman defensive specialist
Angelica
Sievers (St. Joseph HS) led
the back row with five digs.
