In their most
dominant performance of the season, the Cerritos
College volleyball team didn't need much time to put
away Los Angeles Trade-Tech College on Friday
evening. The Falcons won their second match in a row
with a convincing 25-9, 25-8, 25-9 victory to
improve to 5-7 on the year at 2-1 in the SCC. The
team will now host powerful El Camino College at
6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Over the course of
the night, Cerritos scored points in bunches, with a
great majority of that coming thanks to their serve.
Freshman
Mary
Faleafine (Artesia HS)
recorded eight points on service aces, while
sophomore
Desiree
Cortez (Elizabeth Learning Center
HS) contributed four service aces. Freshman
Kristen Trillo (Santa Fe HS)
had three service aces of her own, as the Falcons
finished with 19 aces on the night.
At the net,
freshman
Sarah
Naranjo (Santa Fe HS) led the
team with 10 kills, while freshman
Cynthia
Andrade (South Gate HS)
converted six kills. Both freshmen
Yawen Zhan
(China) and
Britney
Otero (Long Beach Wilson HS)
finished with five kills each, with Cortez dishing
out 28 assists without an error.
