The Cerritos College
volleyball team will be winding down

Beach City College, 22-25, 21-25, 18-25.

overpowers LA Trade-Tech
On Friday night, the
Cerritos College volleyball team came
close to turning in a perfect night in
their 25-5, 25-6, 25-4 South Coast
Conference win at Los Angeles Trade-Tech
College. As a team, the Falcons
committed only three kill errors, while
they also had just three service errors.
Offensively, the team hit an impressive
48% in their kill efficiency, while they
also posted 20 service aces. The win
improved the team's record to 9-9
overall and 5-6 in conference play. They
have three more matches remaining, with
two of them at Gahr High School, their
home court this season. They host
Pasadena City at 6:30 p.m. on

swept by Mt. San Antonio
With the South Coast
Conference season starting to come to an
end, the Cerritos College volleyball
team knows that it if they are going to
somehow earn a post-season bid, they
would need to defeat teams that are
currently ahead of them in the
standings. On Wednesday night, the
Falcons had a perfect chance to pull an
upset against host Mt. San Antonio
College, who sits in third place and are
ranked #15 in the state. But the
Mounties just had too much offense, and
Cerritos was defeated, 12-25, 13-25,

leads to loss against El Camino
The Cerritos College
volleyball team was never able to get on
track in their South Coast Conference
match against El Camino College on
Friday night. The Falcons, who had just
evened their conference record, dropped
back to 4-5 in the SCC and 8-8 overall
with their 9-25, 12-25, 22-25 setback.
They will play their fourth of five
straight road matches on Wednesday at
6:00 p.m. when they travel to Mt. San
Antonio College. Cerritos lost in five

holds on for five-set win
In their first meeting
with East Los Angeles College, the
Cerritos College volleyball team traded
games, with the Huskies coming away with
a five-set victory. On Wednesday night,
the same scenario played out, but this
time it was the Falcons that won the
deciding game to come away with a 25-20,
22-25, 25-11, 24-26, 16-14 South Coast
Conference win. The victory improved the
team's record to 8-7 overall, while they
are now 4-4 in conference play. They
will play their third straight road
match in a row on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

Not since their first
two matches to start the season as the
Cerritos College volleyball team won two
matches in a row. The Falcons, who were
coming off a thrilling five-set win over
Long Beach City College on Wednesday,

Conference win over host Los Angeles
Harbor on Friday. The win improved the
team's record to 7-7 overall and 3-4
in SCC play. The match was the first of

back from two-game deficit to win
With their backs pressed
firmly against the wall after dropping
the first two games to Long Beach City
College, the Cerritos College volleyball
team staged a dominant comeback on
Wednesday night in their South Coast
Conference match at Gahr High School.
The Falcons came all the way back to
defeat the Vikings, 20-25, 14-25, 25-13,
25-11, 15-10, which improves their
record to 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the
SCC. The team will now play their next
five matches on the road, starting on

College volleyball team played a pair of

volleyball team snapped a three-match

Wednesday night when they recorded a

Heart-breaking loss puts Cerritos at 0-3
In one of the most
gut-wrenching matches in recent history,
the Cerritos College volleyball team had
a chance to win their first South Coast
Conference match in all five games on
Friday against Mt. San Antonio College.
The Falcons and Mounties took it to the
limit in a 25-23, 23-25, 23-25, 25-23,
12-15 loss that went back and forth from
the first serve of the night. The
setback dropped Cerritos to 4-6 overall
and 0-3 in SCC play. They will once
again look for their first conference
win on Wednesday when they host Los
Angeles Trade-Tech at 6:30 p.m. at Gahr
High School.
Turning in her best performance as a Falcon was sophomore outside hitter
Samantha Mora (Los Altos HS), who led the team with 17 kills, while also posting 24 digs from the back row and added four service aces. She was crucial to the team in the fourth set win, as she posted seven of her kills, including the one that secured the set. Freshman middle blocker

The Cerritos College
volleyball team is still looking for
their first win in their new "home" this
season. On Wednesday night, the Falcons
dropped a 21-25, 17-25, 23-25 decision

School. With the setback, Cerritos is
now 4-5 on the year and 0-2 in South
Coast Conference play. They will get
another chance at that first win on

10.01.10 - Falcons lose
tough five-set match
In their first South
Coast Conference match of the season,
the Cerritos College volleyball team was
using Gahr High School for the first
time all year, as well. The Falcons will
be playing all of their home matches
at Gahr High because the college's gym
is currently under renovations and will
not be available until next season. In
their match against East Los Angeles
College, Cerritos (4-4, 0-1) traded sets
with the Huskies until they eventually
dropped a 21-25, 25-15, 17-25, 25-21,
12-15 decision. The team will play its
second home match out of four in a row
on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. when they face
El Camino College.
Returning to the lineup after an injury kept her out for the last two weeks was sophomore Chanelle Puou (California HS), who was utilized from the game's first point. But the toll was too much and she was only able to appear in the first three sets and had to sit out the last two. splits four matches at SD Mesa
Tournament
Although it was just one
match over the course of an entire
season, but when the Cerritos College
volleyball came back from being down two
sets against Palomar College at the San
Diego Mesa Tournament over the weekend
and pulled out a five-set win, it just
might carry the team's spirit later into
the year. The Falcons, who split their
four matches at the tournament, are now
4-3 on the year, as they conclude their
non-conference. The team will now open
South Coast Conference play on October 1
when they host East Los Angeles College
at 6:30 p.m. at Gahr High. Cerritos will
play all of their conference home
matches at the high school while the

Fullerton
The Cerritos College
volleyball team will play all of their
non-conference matches on the road this
season while the gym is being renovated.
Their latest road venture was at
Fullerton College on Wednesday night and
resulted in a 16-25, 17-25, 23-25 loss.
The Falcons (2-1) will now travel south
to compete in the San Diego Mesa

finals of Cuyamaca Tournament
After posting a 5-3 pool
play record at the Cuyamaca Tournament
on Saturday, the Cerritos College
volleyball team reached the finals,
where they faced Yavapai (AZ) College.
The Falcons were defeated 16-25, 14-25
in the finals, but showed more promise
as the season progresses. The team will
get another test on Wednesday, when they
travel to Fullerton College for a 6:00

The
Cerritos College volleyball team
improved their record to 2-0 on
Wednesday night after they posted a

season with long-distance win
Even though they were
over 2700 miles from home, the Cerritos
College volleyball team opened their
2010 season with a three-game sweep over
host South Florida Community College.
The Falcons, who advanced to the
Southern California Regional Playoffs
for the first time in three years last
season, posted a 25-22, 25-20, 25-16 win
over the Panthers. After scrimmaging
South Florida on Thursday, Cerritos
jumped into their season on Saturday and
continue on Wednesday when they travel
to Santa Ana College for a 7:00 p.m.
