The
Cerritos College women’s basketball team
finished off their final opponent to
post a perfect 8-0 South Coast
Conference South Division record after
their 82-56 win at Los Angeles Southwest
College on Friday night. The Falcons,
who will find out where they are seeded
for the Southern California Regional
Playoffs on Monday, finish the regular
season, 24-8.
As the game
progressed, the Falcons continued to
shoot and pass the ball very well, as
they registered 26 assists on their 30
baskets. They ran the floor well and saw
the open player for the high percentage
shots, which was no match for the
undersized Cougar team.
Sophomore forward
Maltresa Neely (Downey HS)
led the team with 16 points and 10
rebounds, while she also added four
assists and three steals. Freshman
forward
Mercedes Taylor (Gahr HS)

rebounds, with freshman
Dominique Washington (Long
Beach Jordan HS) coming off the
bench to chip in with 10 points, four
rebounds and three assists.
On the night, the team connected on
51.7% of their shots, while they limited
the Cougars to just 27.8% shooting from
the field.
Also coming off the bench to play
well were freshman
Rachel Butler (Calvary Chapel
HS) with nine points and four
rebounds, while freshman guard
Anna Soltis (Norwalk HS)
hit a pair of three pointers for six
points. Sophomore forward
Genesis Lewis (Paramount HS)
