For the first time since the
2001-02 season, the Cerritos College
women's basketball team will be
competing in the State Tournament, after
their 55-30 win over Antelope Valley
College on Saturday night. The Falcons
(26-8), come in as the #4-seeded team
from Southern California and will face
#1 North seed, Foothill College on
Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the University
of the Pacific in Stockton. Foothill (31-2),
champions of the Coast Conference North
Division, defeated both Las Positas
College (86-56) and Shasta College
(73-64) to advance to the Elite Eight
for the second year in a row.
Cerritos has not faced Foothill this season, but opened with
them in the quarterfinals of the state
tournament in 2002 and posted an 88-58
win before losing to Mt. San Antonio
College in the semi-finals, 70-67.
