Playing with only
seven players, due to the absence of starting
forward
Mercedes
Taylor (Gahr HS) and freshman
guard
Cherish
Sanchez (Norwalk HS), the
Cerritos College women's basketball team suffered a
74-52 South Coast Conference crossover loss at Los
Angeles City College on Wednesday. The Falcons
(16-12 overall) will resume South Division play when
they host Los Angeles Southwest College at 5:30 p.m.
on Friday.
Cerritos had
trouble from the outset, as they struggled from the
field and were outrebounded by the Cubs. It was a
34-17 deficit at intermission, as LACC player Ebony
White had 15 points at the half and finished with a
game-high 27 points.
Picking up the
scoring with the absence of Taylor was freshman
guard
Adria Jackson
(Lynwood HS), who scored 13 of her
team-high 18 points in the second half, while she
also had four rebounds. Freshman guard
Maleta
Daughtery (Redondo HS)
contributed 14 points, while freshman forward
Vannesa Faagata (Paramount HS)
chipped in with 13 points, four rebounds and two
blocked shots.
