The Cerritos
College women's basketball team started their South
Coast Conference South Division game on Friday
against Los Angeles Southwest College by leading
15-1 and held the Cougars to without a field goal
for the first 10:51 of the game. The Falcons saw LA
Southwest get to within five points in the second
half (50-45), but went on to record a 63-50 victory.
Cerritos is now 17-12 on the year and 5-1 in
divisional play and will travel to El Camino College
at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday for another South Division
game.
In opening up
their early lead, the Falcons drained a trio of
three-pointers, with two coming from freshman guard
Adria Jackson (Inglewood HS).
But it was a 21-17 Cerritos lead with 3:51 left in
the first half after Brandi Bradford hit a
three-pointer. But the Cougars would only get a pair
of free throws the remainder of the first half,
while the Falcons saw freshman forward

the team's final six points in the half.
The lead swelled
to 41-30 with 12:41 left in the game after Jackson
hit her third three-pointer of the game, while the
teams traded baskets for that majority of the game
the rest of the way.
Faagata led the
team with 16 points (7-of-10 FG), pulled down seven
rebounds and blocked three shots, while freshman
guard
Maleta
Daughtery (Redondo HS)
finished with 15 points, six rebounds and five
assists. Jackson ended with 10 points, five rebounds
and three steals for Cerritos, while sophomore guard
Rachel Butler (Calvary Chapel HS)
pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds to go with her
six points and four assists.
Bradford led LA
Southwest (9-17, 2-3) with 15 points, with Zative
Woods adding 13 points off the bench.
