Taylor (Gahr HS) and
Rachel
Butler (Calvary Chapel HS)have
both announced their plans for the future after
completing their Falcon careers. Taylor, who was
named the South Coast Conference South Division
Player of the Year and was a 3rd Team All-State
selection, will be continuing her education and
playing career at Cal Poly Pomona. As for Butler,
who was 1st Team all-conference selection and a
member of two state championship track and field
teams, will compete in both sports at William Penn
University in Iowa.
Taylor, a two-time 1st Team all-conference
selection, averaged 12.8 points and a team-high 8.2
rebounds a game in helping the Falcons to the
conference championship and a 21-13 record. She
finishes her career 14th in all-time scoring (765
points) and 10th in all-time rebounding (510), while
her 269 caroms this year were the 19th-most in a
season in school history. On the year, Taylor scored
a season-high 23 points against East Los Angeles
College and scored in double-figures 23 times with
seven double-doubles
As
for Butler, she was a two-time all-conference pick
(earning 2nd Team recognition as a freshman), while
averaging 6.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists a
game. She scored a season-high 16 points against
East Los Angeles College, while posting three
double-doubles on the season. While on the track
team, Butler placed fifth at the state championships
in the javelin as a sophomore after coming in sixth
place her freshman year. She won the Southern
California championship and South Coast Conference
championship in the event as a freshman and holds
the third-best javelin throw in school history at
132' 4". Butler also concluded her track career with
the fifth best hammer throw (149' 11") and discus
throw (132' 7") in school history.
