Needing a victory to ensure at least a share of the South Coast Conference South Division championship, the Cerritos College women's basketball team secured that with a 70-53 win over Long Beach City College at The Aviary on Wednesday. The title marks the second season in a row the Falcons won the championship and will wait until Monday to find out where they are seeded in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The team is a half game ahead of Los Angeles Southwest College, who closes out their regular season on Friday against El Camino College.

Cerritos (18-11, 5-1) opened up an early lead and never looked back against the Vikings (3-21, 0-6), It was a 23-9 advantage with 9:11 left in the first half after freshman guard Jazlyn Afusia (St. Paul HS) hit her second straight three-pointer in a row and third in the half. The Falcons took a 39-26 lead into intermission and then pushed their lead as high as 23 points (51-28) with 15:36 left in the second half after an offensive rebound and basket by sophomore guard Adria Jackson (Lynwood HS).

Freshman guard April Perry (Cabrillo HS) led the way with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists, while freshman forward Rose Boatner (Centennial HS) hauled down 15 rebounds to accompany her 15 points. As a team the Falcons out-rebounded Long Beach City, 57-29, which included a 27-9 advantage on the offensive side.

All seven players contributed at least one rebound, with Jackson checking in with 11 to go along with her nine points, while Afusia finished with 13 points and five assists. Jocelyn Arce led the Vikings with 19 points, while Rayven Sellers added 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
