Thanks to the hot
shooting of freshman
Naomi
Perkins (Artesia HS) and their
overall team speed, the Cerritos College women's
basketball rebounded from their tough loss on
Wednesday night and came away with a 72-39 South
Coast Conference South Division win at El Camino
College on Friday night. The Falcons (14-10 overall,
1-1 division) will now travel to Long Beach
City College for a 5:30 p.m. divisional game next
Wednesday.
Perkins, who led
the team with a season-high 23 points, drained four
of her six three-pointers in the first half, as the
Falcons opened up a 36-22 lead at intermission. To
start the second half, Perkins and sophomore
Adria
Jackson (Lynwood HS) each
netted treys and Cerritos was up 42-22 and never
looked back. As a team, the Falcons nailed 10
three-pointers.
Freshman
April Perry
(Cabrillo HS) added 16 points and five
rebounds off the bench, while Jackson wound up with
12 points and shared the team lead with nine
rebounds. Freshman
Rose Boatner (Centennial HS)
pulled down nine caroms and chipped in with nine
points, with sophomore Maleta Daughtery
(Redondo Union HS) checking in with six
points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals.
