Even with a depleted roster due to injuries, the
Cerritos College women's basketball team had no
trouble dispatching rival Long Beach City
College, 74-40 in a South Coast Conference South
Division game on Wednesday night at Long Beach.
The Falcons (15-10, 2-1) opened up a 27-1 lead
to start the game and took a 41-11 lead into
intermission. The team will now travel to
Pasadena City College for a 5:30 cross-over game
on Wednesday.
Cerritos used their team speed to create fast
break opportunities that allowed them to take
such a sizable lead. They shot 50% from the
field in the first half and also drained six
three-pointers on the night. Additionally, the
Falcons out-rebounded the Vikings (3-16, 0-2),
53-37.
Five of the seven Cerritos players in uniform
scored in double-figures, while all seven posted
at least one rebound and an assist. Freshman
forward
Rose Boatner (Centennial HS)
posted 15 points and 15 rebounds to lead the
team, while sophomore guard Adria
Jackson (Lynwood HS)
contributed 14 points, 11 rebounds, four assists
and three steals. Freshman guard
April
Perry (Cabrillo HS) added
14 points, five rebounds and three assists, with
freshman forward
Michelle
Webb (Santa Fe HS) coming
off the bench to haul down 10 caroms.
