The Cerritos
College women's basketball team played a pair of
road games in back-to-back fashion and came away
winners, as they defeated Los Angeles Pierce College
(83-69) and followed that with a 71-50 victory over
Oxnard College. The two wins improves the team's
record to 3-4, as the team returns home to face
Cypress College in a non-conference game at 6:00
p.m. on Wednesday.
In the win over LA
Pierce, sophomore guard Adria
Jackson (Lynwood HS)
led the team with 22 points and added eight
rebounds, as the Falcons stormed back in the second
half. Down 36-31 at intermission, Cerritos put 52
points on the board in the second half, which is
more than they scored in two entire games this year.
Freshman
Naomi
Perkins (Artesia HS) aided in
the comeback with 14 points, while freshman
April Perry
(Cabrillo HS) chipped in with 12 points and
six steals. The duo of sophomore Maleta Daughtery
(Redondo Union HS) and freshman Jazlyn Afusia
(St. Paul HS) each added 11 points on the
night.
Jackson continued
her hot scoring streak the next night when she
filled the nets for 20 points, while the team pulled
away in the second half yet again. Perkins came up
with 14 points and three rebounds, while Perry (12
points) and freshman
Rose Boatner (Centennial HS)
each led the team with six rebounds. Afusia, who
posted six rebounds and five assists, scored four
points, with freshman Montanique
