The Cerritos
College women's cross country team took eighth place
out of 32 teams at the Southern California Preview
Meet on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College. The
Falcons finished with 294 team points and finished
behind four teams from California and three four
outside the state. After a week off, the team will
run in the South Coast Conference Championships at
Legg Lake in El Monte.
Out of the 272
competitors in the race, the top Falcon runner was
freshman
Sandra
Flores (El Rancho HS), who
placed 44th overall in a time of 20:28 over the
3-mile course. Not far behind was
Cassandra
Mejia (El Rancho HS), who
completed the course in a time of 20:53, good for
58th place. Freshman
Erika
Sandoval (La Mirada HS) was
the next Cerritos runner to finish, as she took 64th
place overall in 21:04, with freshman
Briana Freerksen (El Rancho HS)
in 75th place at 21:12. The final runner to account
for the team scoring was Ariana
Sandoval (Valencia HS), whose
time of 21:42 put her in 101st place overall.
