11.20.10 - Cerritos finishes strong with 11th place showing
The Cerritos College women's cross country team narrowly missed out on finishing in the top 10 in the state and had to settle for an 11th place finish at the State Championships on Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno. The Falcons finished with 353 team points, and missed out on the top 10 by a scant 20 points, as Victor Valley College finished with 333 team points. 11.06.10 - Good grouping nets team ninth place at SoCal Championships
Thanks to their close finishes, the Cerritos College women's cross country team was able to finish in ninth place out of 28 school at the Southern California Championships, which took place Saturday at Mission Bay Park on Saturday. The Falcons finished with 291 team points and were within seven points of jumping over two more schools. 10.29.10 - Falcons come in third at conference championships
Led by sophomore Cassandra Mejia (El Rancho HS), who came in seventh place, the Cerritos College women's cross country team took third place in the South Coast Conference Championships at Mt. San Antonio College on Friday. The Falcons compiled 83 teams points, with Los Angeles Trade-Tech College winning the championship, as they finished with 28 points, while the host Mounties took second place with 46 points. 10.15.10 - Cerritos locks down fourth place at invitational
The Cerritos College women's cross country team edged out Victor Valley College for fourth place at the Santa Barbara City Invitational, which was run on Leadbetter Beach on Friday. The Falcons, who finished with 122 team points, held off Victor Valley, who had 125 team points and settled for fifth place. Glendale College won the 10-team invitational with 36 team points. 10.09.10 - Team takes ninth place at SoCal Preview Meet
At this point in the season, the Cerritos College women's cross country has a pretty good idea where they rank in Southern California. Getting their first chance to run against all of the teams from Southern California on Saturday at the SoCal Preview Meet at Balboa Bay Park in San Diego, the Falcons turned in a ninth place finish, but came close to jumping over several schools for a higher finish. Cerritos finished with 286 team points and trailed Fullerton College (284 team points), Antelope Valley College (259 team points) and Moorpark College (253 team points) by a small margin, while Southwestern College won the invitational. 10.01.10 - Falcons come out on top at Crystal Springs
The Cerritos College cross country team has been near the top of the team scoring in their first three meets of the season, placing third, fifth and four places. On Friday, they finally finished at the top when they won the Crystal Springs Invitational in San Mateo. The Falcons, who compiled 47 team points, beat out six Northern California teams and were the lone team from Southern California. 09.18.10 - Grouping leads Cerritos to fourth place
For every cross country meet, each team compiles their team score based on the finish of their first five runners. With the Cerritos College women's cross country team at the Orange Coast Classic on Saturday, they had their first five runners finish the 3.1-mile run within a minute of each other. The result was a fourth place finish for the team out of the 22 schools that competed. The Falcons finished with 114 team points, with the host Pirates winning the meet with 62 team points. 09.10.10 - Strong performance nets Falcons fifth place
Thanks to some strong running and tight bunching, the Cerritos College women's cross country team turned in a fifth place performance at the Fresno Invitational on Friday. The Falcons, who will be running on the same course at the state championships in November, compiled 172 team points, while Glendale College won the meet with 50 team points. South Coast Conference opponent Mt. San Antonio College came in second place with 52 points. The team will now compete in the Orange Coast Classic on Saturday...[more]

09.03.10 - Cerritos finishes third in first meet
Cerritos finishes third in first meetIn their first meet of the season, the Cerritos College women's cross country team drove down to San Diego and faced two four-year universities at the UC San Diego Opener. The Falcons, who entered 13 runners, came in third place with 71 team points, as Pt. Loma Nazarene University won the event with 21 team points, while the host Tritons placed second with 42 team points. Cerritos will now head north to compete in the Fresno Invitational on Friday.

    The Falcons were led by sophomore Cassandra Mejia (El Rancho HS), who was the ninth runner to finish the course in a time of 16:36.6, while the duo of sophomore Sandra Flores (El Rancho HS) and freshman Angela Gonzalez (Lakewood HS) were close behind. Flores came in 11th place overall in 16:46.7, while Gonzalez was 12th overall with a time of 16:53.2...[more]
