09.27.06 - Shorthanded Falcons come up big in 4-0 win over East LA
Knowing they would be playing their South Coast Conference opener shorthanded, the Cerritos College women's soccer team knew one of the most important aspects of their game at East Los Angeles College on Tuesday was to keep the pressure away from their own goal. With sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Sanchez (Bachillerato #30, Mexico HS) forced to miss the game due to a red card in the previous game, and being the only true keeper on the team, the Falcons turned to sophomore Diana Limon (Long Beach Millikan HS) to get in the net. Not only did she turn away the three shots she faced, Limon recorded a shutout, as Cerritos registered a 4-0 win over the Huskies. The team also played without the services of freshman Karina Rivera (Garfield HS) and sophomore Ailema Damian (El Monte HS), who also received red cards in the win over Victor Valley College on Monday. With the win, the Falcons are now 9-1-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in SCC play. They will now travel to Pasadena City College next Tuesday for a 3:00 p.m. contest...[more]

Three Falcon players earned red cards in the win and will be forced to miss the South Coast Conference opener at East Los Angeles College on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. With about 10 minutes left in the game, the play got physical in front of the benches and the referee issued red cards to sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Sanchez (Bachillerato #30, Mexico HS), freshman forward Karina Rivera (Garfield HS) and sophomore defender Ailema Damian (El Monte HS). Finishing out the game in goal was sophomore midfielder Diana Limon (Long Beach Millikan HS) and either her or freshman Monica Rodriguez (Long Beach Millikan HS) will play in goal against the Huskies...[more]

09.20.06 - Cerritos disposes of undefeated San Bernardino Valley, 6-0
Facing one of the few remaining undefeated teams in Southern California, the Cerritos College women's soccer team wasted little time showing San Bernardino Valley College that they are one of the elite teams in the area, as the Falcons scored in the first minute of the game and rode that momentum to a 6-0 non-conference win on Tuesday. For the Falcons, who are rated 16th in the country, they improved their season mark to 5-1-1, while the Wolverines dropped to 7-1-0. There is a chance that Cerritos may have their tie removed from their record and replaced with a victory, as San Diego Mesa has filed paperwork stating that they will need to forfeit their result, a 2-2 tie on September 8. Next up for the Falcons is a home match at 4:00 p.m. against Antelope Valley College on Friday...[more]

In one of their tougher games of the season, the Cerritos College women's soccer team, ranked 16th in the country, traveled to Yuba College in Marysville on Friday to face the 18th-rated team in the country. After leading 1-0 at the half, the Falcons allowed two early second-half goals and suffered their first loss of the season, 2-1, which dropped their record to 4-1-1 on the year. Cerritos will now go up against another vastly improved team on Tuesday, when they travel to take on 7-0 San Bernardino Valley College...[more]

09.11.06 - Falcons see 2-0 lead slip away in tie with SD Mesa
The Cerritos College women's soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 lead in their non-conference game at San Diego Mesa College on Friday, but fell victim to two quick goals and had to settle for a 2-2 tie. Over the last two seasons, the Cerritos College women's soccer team has played Orange Coast College three times. Last year, the team went 1-0-1, including a 3-1 overtime win in the Southern California Regional Playoffs, which was the school's first post-season victory ever. On Wednesday, the Falcons traveled to Costa Mesa to face the Pirates and came away with a 1-0 non-conference victory that improved their record to 4-0-0, while Orange Coast dropped to 2-2-0. The team will now look to improve on their fastest start in school history when they travel to San Diego Mesa College for a 4:00 p.m. contest on Friday...[more]

09.04.06 - Cerritos wins two road games to improve to 3-0
The Cerritos College women's soccer team didn't allow a long drive up the coast to distract them, as they traveled to Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo this past weekend for two non-conference games. The Falcons, who played without two starting sophomores, posted wins over Santa Rosa College (2-1) and the host Cougars (6-1) to improve their record to 3-0-0 on the year. The team will now head to Orange Coast College on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference contest...[more]

08.29.06 - Falcons Open Season In Strong Fashion With 9-0 Victory
The Cerritos College women's soccer team appears to have turned the corner and are now being viewed as a viable option when it comes to selecting teams to advance far into the post-season. Last year, the Falcons set a new school record in wins (20) en route to a second place finsh in the tough South Coast Conference.
