The Cerritos College women's soccer
team ran their winning streak to 10 games after posting
a 4-0 South Coast Conference home win against East Los
Angeles College on Friday afternoon. With the victory,
the Falcons remain all alone in first place in the SCC
with a 7-0-0 mark and are now 15-1-0 on the season. They
will now take to the road to face ECC Compton Center at
2:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

(Long Beach
Millikan HS) scored a goal and assisted on
two others to lead Cerritos in the win, while sophomore
goalkeeper
Elizabeth
Sanchez (Bachillerato
#30,
Mexico HS)
recorded her eighth shutout of the season and fourth in
the last five games. She also picked up her first career
assist, while making five stops on the day. In the seven
conference wins, Cerritos has won five of them by 4-0
scores and have six on the season.
Cerritos got on the board in the 22nd
minute when sophomore
Nancy
Gutierrez (A.B.
Miller HS), who's normally a defender, moved
up to midfield and drilled home a goal with Limon
earning the assist. Limon connected with freshman
Karina Rivera
(Garfield HS)
for the second goal just three minutes later after
sophomore midfielder
Jackie Flores
(Lynwood HS)
cleared the ball away to Limon, who sent a nice pass
into the box for Rivera.
In the second half, Rivera picked up
her second goal when Sanchez cleared the ball after
making a save. The ball was picked up by Rivera, who
dribbled in near the net and scored past Huskies
goalkeeper Dyana Molina. Limon closed out the scoring in
the 84th minute when she received a pass from sophomore
Sandra Jacobo
(Long Beach
Millikan HS) and sent a shot on net that
squirted under the arm of a diving Molina. The Falcons,
who out-shot East LA 18-4, had numerous chances to score
throughout the game, with sophomore
Nykollet Leyva
(California HS)
missing two great chances withing the same minute. |
